HP Photosmart Premium TouchSmart Web All-in-One Review December 27, 2009

The HP Photosmart Premium Printer is certainly the first of its kind. Everybody can print something from the Internet, but the HP Photosmart Premium can service that and a bag of chips without the requirement of a computer at hand. Additionally, it functions as a fax machine, copier and scanner. These features don’t come cheap, though; customers will find themselves burning quite a hole in their pocket over this kiosk of a printer.

Other features include its aesthetically pleasing 4.33 inch customizable touchscreen on which users can virtually browse the Internet and print pages at a speed of 33 ppm black ink and 32 ppm color. If that is not enough to make heads turn, consider its borderless photo printing skill, for photos as large as a standard piece of paper. Before printing, users can use the touchscreen to modify the photo via rotations and cropping, applying color effects or adjusting the brightness.

* This printer can scan, print, copy and fax from its standalone kiosk, boasting a touchscreen and web browsing. It prints large size photos that can be modified for effect before printing.

* It is a useful printer for anybody, especially those who can no longer afford a computer. Anybody can benefit from browsing the Internet and printing without the use of a computer as well as printing photos.

* HP made a phenomenal printer that everyone should get their hands on, but to clarify:

* Pros: photo modification and printing; standalone Internet browsing and printing; no computer required

* Cons: paper tray only holds 100 sheets of paper and 20 sheets of photo paper; price is a bit high, but still excellent value.

It is clear that, for the most part, the pros outweigh the cons here, especially as indicated by an Amazon customer review: “HP finally got it right… they’ve outdone themselves on this one.”

If you can’t afford a computer, why would you want to buy this? I’m not saying it’s not a nice printer, but you could spend less money for a cheap PC with everything included and print only what you need at a print shop.

HP has always produce outstanding printers of great quality, the only factor that I do not like about HP is the lack of individual cartridges. If you have to change the color cartridges just because one particular ink is used more than the other, it is a waste of money. To make it worse, HP inks are more expensive than other printers.
